According to the data presented in the last Mediterranean Olive Conference in Meknès, held last year, Morocco has 680,000 hectares of olive crops (more than 50% of its national arboreal surface) and its cultivation area plays a major socio-economic role in different agricultural areas. Specifically, agricultural activity in this sector at the national level can generate 15 million wages, the equivalent of 70,000 permanent jobs.

In turn, the Moroccan currently estimated production is between 680,000 tons and 900,000 tons of olives and in the region of Meknès, the crushing capacity is estimated at 5,000 tons per day.
