The town of San Juan, in Argentina, will host from 20 to 24 October the IV International Olive Meeting Argoliva 2014, the annual encounter of all the actors involved in the olive production chain looking to expand the use of its products, deepen the technical knowledge and promote business between producers and traders.
This meeting will be held at various venues in San Juan and as in previous editions it will consist of various activities towards olive oil and its consumption.
One of the first initiatives as part of this meeting is the International Extra Virgin Olive Oil Competition, Domingo Faustino Sarmiento Award, which this year will evaluate and rate the juicese from last season (2014 for the Southern Hemisphere/2013 for the Northern Hemisphere).
As pointed out by the organizers, “this is the most important event in South America,” which also ranks third in the ranking of international olive oil competitions at The World’s Best Olive Oils project for the 2013/14 campaign.
In this edition 94 samples are being evaluated by the Tasting Panel of the Catholic University of Cuyo and the international jury. The organizers have also stressed that the number of samples submitted from Spain, Italy, Portugal, Greece, United States, Uruguay and Chile increased this year by over 200%.The IV International Olive Meeting Argoliva 2014 in Argentina,
