The International Olive Council (IOC) expects the Spanish olive oil production to be around 875,000 tons in the 2014/15 campaign (-50%), while production worldwide is expected to exceed 2,560,000 tons, which will decrease 19% from the previous season and an increase more than 6% regarding 2012/13.

In its latest market report, the IOC ensures that these estimates are still “premature” and that the figures reviewed by the Council of Members, which shall meet at the end of November, will be more accurate, unless exceptional weather conditions occur.

Regarding other producing countries of the European Union (EU), the IOC believes that Greece will reach 300,000 t. (+122%), while in Portugal a slight decrease of 1.5% is expected.
