The International Olive Council (IOC) is hosting, between today and June 6, the 22nd extraordinary meeting of its Council of Members at the headquarters of the agency in Madrid, under the presidency of Neset Akkoc, from Turkey, who will perform this function until April 30, 2015.

On this occasion, representatives of the 17 member countries of the IOC (Albania, Algeria, Argentina, Egypt, Israel, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Montenegro, Syria, Tunisia, Turkey, the European Union and Uruguay) will reflect on the future of this organization and hold various meetings of its specialized committees.

Thus, the IOC has stated on its website that the working group on the future of the organization will meet today and on Thursday to address the future of the organization with a view to renewing the International Agreement on Olive Oil and Table Olives signed in 2005.

The Technical Committee will meet tomorrow morning and the Executive Secretariat will present the status of the activities -planned on the last meeting- on olive oil chemistry and development of standards, research-development and environment.
