Olive oil producers from Tasmania are looking to share their liquid gold with consumers in China as the boutique industry expands.

Plans are in the pipeline to send Tasmanian olive oil overseas, selling online at the premium end of the market.

About 22 producers and other industry representatives recently discussed the potential demand for olive oil in China at a workshop hosted by the Tasmanian Olive Council.

Tony O’Neil, from multi-award winning Cradle Coast Olives near Ulverstone, said groves were reaching full production and new markets were needed to ensure the local market was not oversupplied.
