Notes to Editors:
The detailed rules for EU marketing standards on olive oil are set out in two Commission Regulations.
Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) No 29/2012 covers the marketing standards for olive oil including the setting of labelling requirements.
Commission Regulation (EEC) No 2568/91 sets out in detail the characteristics of each category olive oil and established the relevant methods of analysis.
These will be enforced in the UK by The Olive Oil (Marketing Standards) Regulations 2014.
