Locally owned, Greek olive oil producer and importer, Our Family’s Olive Oil, LLC, was recognized this past week as having one the best Extra Virgin Olive Oils in the world. The company’s EVOO, imported from the Peloponnese region of Greece and known as Laconiko, received the NYIOOC Gold Award in the category of Medium Olive Oil, which is defined by the competition as “the perfect go-to EVOO for everyday use”. With over 700 producer applicants from 25 different countries applying, Laconiko stood out as one of the best for a second consecutive year, in what many view as the biggest olive oil competition globally. “Winning at the NYIOOC was a big honor for our family,” said Diamantis, who together with his brother Dino have created a very reputable client base that spans numerous regions of the United States and abroad.
Dimantis and Dino started the company in 2010. They are fourth generation producers and first generation importers, bringing their family’s olive oil to the United States from Greece. Aspiring to have one of the best EVOO’s in the world, the brothers are on the road continuously promoting their product line through trade shows, food festivals and in-store tastings. Today, Laconiko is in close to 60 boutique, gourmet, specialty, and oil-vinegar stores, throughout the East Coast. With a state of the art warehouse and showroom, the company is looking to expand it’s distribution channels and overall following across the entire United States.
The Laconiko product line consists of the award winning original EVOO along with 10 premium infused flavors, all derived from their olive grove estate, entailing the Koroneiki olive varietal. Laconiko is available for retail outlets interested in carrying premium EVOO products.
