Thus, over an average period of 4.7 years of monitoring, 246 new incidents were identified with this disorder amongst 6,705 eligible participants. The rate of this pathology was significantly lower amongst participants assigned to the Mediterranean diet supplemented with extra virgin olive oil than amongst those on a control diet.
