Málaga’s football club midfielder Ignacio Camacho enjoyed an excellent 2013-2014 campaign in La Liga with Málaga and in recognition of his performances, selected as Player of the Season, a local fan club has presented him with their very own unique award.

Whilst the 2013-2014 campaign in La Liga wasn’t perhaps the most memorable of seasons for Málaga, 33 appearances, 5 goals and quality displays on the pitch individually, have earned midfielder Ignacio Camacho, the annual Player of the Year award from the Peña Malaguista de Archidona.

Now an annual tradition amongst the Málaga supporters clubs, the winning player receives a somewhat unique award – their weight in virgin olive oil from regional production cooperative, DECOOP.

For 24-year-old Camacho, that equated to 77 litres of olive oil and he won’t be lacking for ways to spruce up his salads, any time soon!
