Adem Kaya, a coordinator with US Olive Co., spoke about the partnership with Henry to economic development officials and local farmers and ranchers Friday at The Sendera.
“We have planted one tree per head in Victoria,” Kaya said. “Now everyone has an olive tree.”
Kaya said their plans are to invest in the orchard as much as possible, open a pressing and bottling facility, and produce table olives.
“It will attract a lot more attention when it starts to produce,” Kaya said.
Orhan Ozis, a potential investor in the olive partnership, said if the project is successful, “It will be a good example to small and medium investors in Turkey to do the same thing.”A group of Turkish investors are taking over Texas olive country,
