    Turkey needs both a domestic and international strategy to market its rapidly growing olive oil output, according to Cahit Çetin, the head of Tariş.

    Turkey needs both a domestic and international strategy to market its rapidly growing olive oil output, according to Cahit Çetin, the head of Tariş, one of the two leading olive and olive oil unions.

    “The olive oil yield this year is expected at 190,000 tons. It will exceed 300,000 tons in one or two years under good conditions,” Çetin told Anadolu Agency, adding that the Agriculture Ministry forecasts output to reach 700,000 tons in the near future.

    “A strategy is needed to market this increased yield, both domestically and internationally,” he said.

  • Omelet in Oven with Extra Virgin Olive Oil

    ingredients:

    500gr. mushrooms,
    100gr. grated zucchini,
    300gr.potatoes sliced in thick slices ,
    150ml. Centaurs’ Earth extra virgin olive oil”,
    6 finely chopped fresh mint leafs ,
    5 sections of yellow goat cheese ,
    250gr. turkey breast, cut in slices ,
    salt,
    pepper,
    4 eggs,
    100ml water

    Instructions:

    Heat half of the extra virgin olive oil in a skillet and slightly broil the potatoes. With the remaining amount of extra virgin olive oil slightly fry the mushrooms and place them on kitchen tissue. Broil the turkey breast in the same pan. Place a layer of potato rounds, turkey breast, cheese, mushrooms, zucchini and mint leafs in a baking pan, season each layer with salt and pepper. Pour the sauce on top and cook in the oven (180oC) for 20 minutes. Remove from heat, mix the eggs and pour on top. Place the pan back into the oven and continue cooking for 10 -15 minutes.

  • San Sebastian Gastronomika will have Italian flavor

    San Sebastian Gastronomika-Euskadi Basque Country will become once again an essential event in the gastronomic calendar, with the presence of the most representative figures of the global culinary scene and a selection of the best products of the Spanish food industry. Carlo Cracco and other figures such as Gennaro Esposito, Davide Scabin, Norbert Niederkofler, Andrea Berton, Nino di Costanzo, Moreno Cedroni, Mauro Uliassi and Pino Cuttaia will also participate.

    In total, 30 Michelin Stars from Italy, including Pizza masters Enzo Coccia, Cinque Raimondo and Enzo Piccirillo.

  • Chile will host the XII National Olive Oil Meeting on October 16th

    The ChileOliva association, along with ProChile, will organize once again the National Olive Oil Conference, which will be held on 16 October at the center of events and conventions Espacio Riesco in Santiago de Chile.

    Under the slogan “Chile’s Olive Industry and its Challenges”, the event, now celebrating its twelfth edition, will allow companies to have a real insight into market trends and production and will feature national and international experts.

  • EVOO competition winners of SOL d'Oro Southern Hemisphere

    Several extra virgin olive oils from Argentina, Chile, South Africa and Uruguay have been awarded in the first edition of the SOL d’Oro Southern Hemisphere, while different olive juices from Australia and Peru have received Honorable Mentions in the contest led by the Chile Tasting Panel Association and supported by the Ministry of Agriculture in this country and the Imagen Foundation of Chile.

    The contest, held in Santiago de Chile between 29th September and 2nd October, received a total of 70 samples of extra virgin olive oil from six countries, which were tasted by a panel of experts from Italy, Spain, Greece, United States, Argentina and Chile who chose the winners through a “rigorous” selection process.

    “We wanted to impress the jury with olive oils from the Southern Hemisphere and certainly we succeeded. We are very pleased with the number of samples and the quality of them in this first edition,” said Joseph Mingo, president of Chile Tasting Panel Association.
