Locally-produced ENZO Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil – Meyer Lemon Infused, has been named as a 2014 Good Food Awards finalist, a national competition that acknowledges 200 select foods for leading the way towards a tasty, authentic and responsible food system.
The line of olive oil is produced by Ricchiuti Family Farms of Clovis, a four-generation family farming operation that includes P-R Farms, Inc., and retail specialty store, Bella Frutta, also of Clovis.
This year’s 1,450 entries, double the number since the awards launched in 2009, came from all 50 states, the District of Columbia and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
The Good Food Awards honor people who make food that tastes good, is respectful of the environment and is connected to communities and cultural traditions. The awards were created through a collaboration of food producers, farmers, food journalists and independent grocers.
“The 200 Good Food Awards Finalists are leading a cultural shift away from business as usual,” said Sarah Weiner, co-founder and executive director of Seedling Projects, which organizes the awards, in a release. “They bring the dedication and integrity of true craftsmen to all they do.”
All ENZO Olive Oil products are 100 percent USDA certified organic, estate grown, certified extra virgin California olive oil.
“It is an honor to be named a finalist for the 2014 Good Food Awards and to be recognized among some of most innovative and environmentally responsible food producers in the country,” said Vincent Ricchiuti, director of operations for P-R Farms, in a release.
Good Food Award winners will be announced on Jan. 16 in San Francisco.
